2016’s Top 10 Most Popular Instagram Posts

Published: Dec 29, 2016 by Riz · This post may contain affiliate links ·

Instagram, Chocolates and Chai, Chocolates & Chai, Top 10, Top 10 Instagrams, Top 10 Instagram Posts, 10 Most popular Instagram Posts, Top Ten, Top Ten Instagrams, Top Ten Instagram, Ten Most Popular Instagrams, Ten Most Popular Instagram Posts, Most Popular 2016, Best Instagram, 2016 Instagram this recipe

This post is a little different from my usual - It's round-up of my most popular Instagram posts! By the way, did I mention I have an Instagram? I do, it's @yamisohungry - no, not Yami So Hungry… ‘Y’ (like, why) Am I So Hungry. Got it? Good. Now we can move on to the good stuff!

I've been on Instagram for a while now, but I only properly connected it to Chocolates & Chai earlier in 2016. Prior to that it was just a personal account with me randomly posting things (still, mainly food!). What's changed? Well…not very much actually. I still post mostly about food. But I take more care to make sure that I post delicious photos of food! And though the account is connected to my blog, I didn't want it to be all about the blog. So there is still a personal aspect to it - you'll see some of the stuff I cook to feed myself when I'm not cooking gloriously indulgent brunches, you'll see the places I visit, some of the sponsors I work with, and every now and again, you'll even see a selfie of lil ol' me!

    Instagram: Year One

So, what's my first proper year on Instagram been like? Well, it's been pretty great actually! I can say without hesitation that Instagram is my favourite social network. And it's by far the place I engage with all of you the most! I post a few times a week, respond to at least a hundred comments and messages every week - I love it. So far, there's a little over 4,000 people following me on Instagram…and if you want to be one of those people (and why wouldn't you, bestie?), make sure to follow me! And say hi when you do!

    Top 10 Instagram Posts – 2016

If you’re wondering how I decided what posts to include in my list of the Top 10 Most Popular Instagram Posts for 2016 – well, it’s mostly to do with engagement. That is, how many likes, comments, and re-posts the photo received. However, I realise that the date of publishing gives older posts a time advantage, and a growing number of followers gives new posts an engagement advantage, so I’ve also take the liberty to mix it up here and there with photos that I thought did well under their circumstances, or photos that I felt generated more positive comments (as opposed to just a large number of comments). What I’m saying is…this list is based a lot on my opnions, and that if you felt that something was missing, let me know in the comments below! (Or on Instagram, that works too.)

I call this photo "San Junipero" because something about it reminds me of the Black Mirror episode with the same name. I took it while visiting the Christmas Market with the super amazing @shih0107.

    2. Meanwhile…in Sofia, Bulgaria

    View this post on Instagram

#Toronto is still deciding on whether it's winter yet. Meanwhile…in Sofia, #Bulgaria. ——————————— For those of you that don't know… I live in a few different places (though I'm based mostly in Toronto). My dad is at home in #Sofia at the moment and sent me this photo he took of a church/ Cathedral asking when #winter is coming to Canada.

    1. …But first, let me take a selfie.

I once asked a #model for tips on how to look good in photos. He replied, "For you? Err…take the photo in low light, maybe go for black and white… try to tell people how expensive your tie is." #truestorybro Maybe he was on to something. #humblebrag or a #selfburn, I'm not sure! (Oh, and tie by @hermes)

    Hi! I'm Riz.

Do you ever think back to that recipe someone special cooked for you? Mom's spaghetti? Grandma's pie?

On Chocolates & Chai, I worry about perfecting that showstopper of a recipe so that you can rediscover, and share that feeling with the people closest to you.
