5 Ways to Fix your French Toast

French toast is generally easy to make, but as is often the case with easy recipes, everyone forgets the basics. Here are some quick ways to make your French toast the best it can be!

Low fat or skim milk has a lower fat content than whole milk. This results in less flavorful and slightly less moist French toast.

Skimming your milk

Choose bad bread, get bad toast. It's best to avoid sandwich bread which can't absorb moisture the way you want for French toast. Brioche is always an excellent option.

Picking the right bread

Too often the custard is under-whisked. You want to create a smooth custard that can be easily absorbed by your bread.

Whisking properly

In the excitement of breakfast, it's easy to forget to let your bread soak enough. The sweet spot is making sure it absorbs the custard, but doesn't become soggy.

Let it soak

Cooking over too high a heat will result in the insides of your French toast not being properly cooked. Reducing the heat to medium or medium high is often the way to go.
